The Problem
Making music is a spiritual pursuit. It's a quest for chipping away at a block of stone, looking to make something true. It transcends words and serves as a direct line to emotion. But it can also be silly experimentation.
The Process
Most of the music I make is done 'in-the-box' meaning I focus on using software tools. Some of my favorites are Ableton Live, Granulator II, and Scaler 2. As a drummer, sometimes I start with a drum groove which is rattling around inside my bones. Other times I begin by experimenting with chords progressions to see what's resonating to me at that time. Most often, I'll find a melodic sample I enjoy and chuck it into a granular synthesizer, then explore all the different ways of re-interpreting that sound.
The Product
It's strange to think of music as a product but indeed in some ways it is. I've been lucky to have my music featured in several Spotify editorial playlists like Brain Food and lofi beats, as well as Apple Music playlists like Today's Chill and Pure Focus. Take a listen for yourself below.
